The Business of Events Announces Programme for the 2019 Senior Leadership Forum

The Business of Events has today announced the programme for its flagship Senior Leadership Forum, which takes place at The Mermaid London on 6th November 2019. 

This year’s Senior Leadership Forum will focus on discussing the opportunities surrounding the governments recently announced Tourism Sector Deal. Presentations from across Westminster include; Giles Smith, Heritage, Tourism, and Cultural Diplomacy at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, who will speak about the role of government and the recently launched International Business Events Action Plan; James Heappey MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for the UK Events Industry, who will provide a briefing on the current situation in Parliament along with a preview of the upcoming Business of Events Parliamentary Debate and Madeleine Burns, Deputy Director of Events at the Department for International Trade, who will update on how events are being used to support the UK’s Industrial Strategy.

Chantal Van Es from Sibos, a global financial superpower, whose event was recently held for the first time in London, with 11,500 delegates and more than 300 exhibitors, will also share her thoughts on their experience of London and what major global events look for when selecting a destination.

Additional sessions include a State of the Union panel discussion, with updates from leading destinations across the UK, including MeetEngland, Visit Scotland, Visit Wales and London & Partners and Kerrin MacPhie, Head of Business Events at VisitBritain, on the Business Events Growth Programme.

This year’s London series will also include a further Parliamentary Debate, held at Portcullis House, and staged in association with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events. An invitation-only Senior Leadership Dinner will follow the Parliamentary Debate and be held at Carlton House Terrace, home to the British Academy. 

Additional Forums will be held in Wales, at the newly opened ICC Wales in Newport, on 12th November, and in Scotland, at the National Museum of Scotland, on 26th November. The Business of Events IBTM Global Policy & Practice Forum will also be held in Barcelona on 18th November.
